Director of Community

Gauge (gauge.ai) and Values (wearevalues.com) are looking for a Director of Community. This is a FULLY remote position, with occasional trips to our Washington, DC headquarters and client sites in various locations.


You’ll work across two companies, Gauge – an insights agency – and Values Partnerships – the country’s largest Black-owned social impact agency. Both companies share a deep belief in the power and brilliance within communities, and empowering and deploy community voices for impact. We deliver insights, activations, marketing campaigns and partnerships with communities at the center. That makes this role – our Director of Community – a critical player on our team.

As Director of Community, you’ll: 

  • Develop systems and structures to effectively organize and segment our community. This includes overseeing our transition to a best-in-class CRM platform that lets us effectively segment, engage and ultimately grow our audience. 

  • Analyze our community, spotting gaps and areas for growth, then create a strategic recruitment plan to ensure we continue to be home to the world’s most diverse, intersectional, inclusive panel of community voices. 

  • Create and meet specific recruitment targets, and grow our community overall.

  • Develop and execute on a communications and engagement calendar that brings community leaders into our events and activations, inspires our community to go deeper with us and allows for growth. 

  • Train our team on how to source voices, leaders and potential partners from our community, and best practices for inputting new partners and voices on an ongoing basis. 

  • Identify opportunities to refine, enhance or improve our core products to better serve and grow our influencers community. This includes managing platform audits, UX/UI enhancements etc. 

  • Manage our Gauge Community Manager, supporting them to meet recruitment targets, creatively problem solve, and grow our community.

When we review your materials, we’ll be looking for: 

  • 6-10 years of work experience in a fast-paced organization (Note: prior experience in community organizing or research recruiting is BIG PLUS but not required)

  • Evidence of knowledge of civic, faith and cultural organizations, and the ability to quickly learn new landscapes 

  • Evidence of ability to operate independently and solutions oriented, proactively charting strategies to get to big picture goals

  • Experience working directly with people/ customers, in all their quirks : ) This is a people-facing role! You must lead with patience and thoughtfulness in interacting with others.

  • Ability to write clearly and concisely

  • Evidence of outstanding project management skills (strong ability to multitask), with the ability to drive a project from ideation to delivery

  • Evidence of ability to juggle multiple competing projects, deadlines and priorities

  • Cultural awareness –– a sense of interest in what is happening in the world, and how that awareness relates to your work

  • Commitment to kindness, innovation, impact and inclusion

Benefits

Salary range for this role is $70K-$110K, depending on experience. We offer medical, dental and vision, along with a simple IRA. Diverse candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
