The SNIPES Pay It Forward initiative is a nationwide campaign dedicated to supporting Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). As part of SNIPES’ ongoing commitment to community engagement, this initiative focuses on uplifting underrepresented communities and investing in the future leaders of tomorrow. By empowering HBCU students, SNIPES aims to enhance access to educational opportunities and foster meaningful conversations about community, leadership, and progress.
For this year’s Homecoming Season, SNIPES has selected two prestigious institutions—Morehouse College and Spelman College. Through the Pay It Forward Initiative, SNIPES will award a total of four (4) scholarships–two (2) scholarships to students at each school–each valued at $10,000. These scholarships are designed to alleviate financial barriers and help students maximize their academic and leadership potential.
Selection Criteria
Applications are reviewed and scored by a Selection Committee of the Values Partnerships Team and SNIPES. The review committee will select individuals whom they believe are most likely to leverage this learning opportunity. They will seek candidates who are eager to learn and plan to apply their skills and knowledge gained to benefit their academic careers, their universities, and their communities. All decisions are final.
Grant Distribution
If you are selected to receive a Pay It Forward Scholarship, a member of the Selection Committee will work with the recipient(s) to collect financial account details and disburse funding.
Eligibility
To be eligible for an award, applicants must be:
A current student at Morehouse College and Spelman College
Enrolled in at least 12 credit hours
GPA of at least 2.5
